Book Review: A Long Walk to Water
The book I read was A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park. This book was written to inform reader's about past and present events in Sudan and South Sudan. The main characters are Salva and Nya. This book, at least Salva's part, is based on true events.
This story is split into two parts. Part 1 takes place in Sudan during the civil war which was in 1985 to 2005, and part 2 takes place in 2008 and later. During both times, it was hard to live due to health problems because of lack of clean water.
The main characters were Salva and Nya. The relations are they both lived in Sudan and had family living with them and had water problems. But they were in different tribes. Something very intriguing happened at the end...But you will have to read to find out.
My favorite part of the book was when one of the characters got a letter saying his father was going into surgery, and he had to go back to South Sudan from America. The story flowed well and was very interesting. I think that a lot of kids would love to read this book because it’s based on true events, and you could also be inspired to donate.
This book was educational because you learned things that happened in Sudan at those periods of time. It was also entertaining because the events that happened during the book. I definitely enjoyed this book. It was very informative and had a good ending. I would recommend many kids to read this book because this is the best book I have read in years!
