Editorial: Why Did We Have a Bomb Drill?
Ethan Starr, Staff Writer
People have opinions on the bomb drill. My opinion is the bomb drill was a waste of time! Terrorists don’t attack here yet. Riddle me this: What is the point of having a bomb drill if the City of Virginia Beach doesn’t have terrorists attacks?
First of all, the bomb drill was a waste of class time. Instead of being outside standing against the fence, I could have been inside walking around the gym during P.E. I'm sure other students missed out on interesting class activities while we had the bomb drill.
Also, Virginia Beach does not usually have any terrorist attacks or threats. The military base here doesn't attract threats of terrorists. Why would any one want to bomb a middle school, anyway?
Even though the school system thinks we need to have bomb drills to practice in case of an emergency, I think it's pointless. There are no bombs in Virginia Beach because it's too small of a city.
Our school time could be better spent learning instead of having a bomb drill.
