Students Take the Iron Giraffe Challenge
Sky-Lynn R., Staff Writer
A fundraiser is coming back around called the Iron Giraffe Challenge. For this fundraiser, students are challenged with raising money for South Sudan by donating money for raindrops.
In the cafeteria, faculty members are selling the raindrops for one dollar. Once you get the drop, you put your name on it, and they display it. It will make you feel amazing that you helped.
Brandon Middle School will donate all funds raised to South Sudan to help villages drill new wells. These wells will help them have fresh water for drinking and for better hygiene.
The Iron Giraffe Challenge was started by the 7th grade teachers. According to 7th grade English teacher Mrs.Baedke, their English curriculum included a book called A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park. This book gives information about the situation in South Sudan. After reading the book, they got inspired and wanted to make a difference.
The Iron Giraffe Challenge does not just benefit South Sudan; students can win, too! If your grade purchases the most raindrops, you get to listen to music for three days in the cafeteria, 2nd place gets two days of music, and 3rd place gets one day.
RAIN DROPS DROP TOP DONATE TO SOUTH SUDAN AND DON'T STOP STOP!!
